Hike to the Cinque Torri and Trenches of the Great War
The climb to the 5 Torri can be done on foot from different points: from the Falzarego pass, for example, or from the station at the bottom of the Bain de Dones chairlift. In this case you can also go up more comfortably on the four-seater shielded chairlift (the shield is useful to protect yourself from a sudden rain or wind during the climb, in case of variable weather). At the top station of the chairlift there is the Rifugio Scoiattoli hut (2,200 m).
In the area there are the trenches of the Great War, partly reconstructed and accessible as an open-air museum: descriptive panels in three languages illustrate the entire route to the visitor.
The route is made of restored trenches, walkways, observation points, having war scenes set up with life-size human figures made of fibreglass.
The extensive view is breathtaking. Close view of the Lastoi de Formìn, Averau and Nuvolau. Towards the south-east, also the Boite Valley, with Antelao, Sorapìss group and Croda Marcora.
To the north, there are superb views of Lagazuoi and Tofane; among these are the Torri delle Cime di Fanes.
